    TradeWinds Services, Inc. is a non-profit agency located in Merrillville that has been providing support and care to individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities in Northwest Indiana for over 50 years. We have a full-time position in our Children Services department.

    POSITION OBJECTIVES  – The Lead Teacher is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as part of a teaching team.  Responsible for supervising and caring for children ages birth to 6 years of age that are enrolled in the Childcare program.  Plan and implement the curriculum in accordance with TradeWinds Services and their partnership program, Geminus Head Start.  This position requires active participation with the children, families, other members of the teaching team, as well as various Head Start staff, to assess and address the needs of individual children.

    Education:  Associate’s /Bachelor’s Early Childhood or Elementary Education; Must meet child care licensing requirements; Must be at least 21 years of age (depending on childcare room)

    Experience: Must have at least three (3) months of experience with children in a classroom setting
    Additional Requirements: maintain classroom to Indiana State Regulations/ Paths to Quality and Head Start/Early Head Start requirements; keep classrooms organized; must be able to pass a drug screen and pass a criminal background check.
