Provide a competent and accurate credit analysis for small business loan requests, primarily using the Credit Quest scoring system in conjunction with Microsoft Excel. Said analysis should incorporate evaluation of the financial condition of current or prospective borrowers for loan consideration. The Small Business Analyst should have an excellent understanding of credit underwriting, loan scoring systems, and the different programs offered by the Small Business Administration (SBA). The position will also work in lockstep with small business bankers and manager to help manage, monitor, and create reports for a portfolio of 1000+ notes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Include the following:
1.Provide the highest level of quality service to the small business bankers and the retail relationship managers. Perform proper underwriting and credit assistance in a friendly, positive, professional manner, where credit turnaround time is essential.
2.Compile, analyze and evaluate the financial viability of a credit request pursuant to the analysis of financial statements. Prepare, organize, and submit financial data into the Credit Quest Scoring System. Analysis may encompass evaluations of commercial and industrial credits as well as commercial real estate properties.
3.Establish rapport with the small business bankers, retail relationship managers, and Business Banking AAs. Analyst should understand credit and work closely with and advise the small business bankers on how to enhance the credit structure of the credit request and be able to work with the small business loans manager and AAs about individual requests and the portfolio.
4.Garner a high understanding and competency for SBA loan products and offerings. Analyst will be key in submitted proper SBA documentation and establish a quality working relationship with SBA personnel.
5.Monitor business credit inquiries on commercial clients. Recognize opportunities to expand the Bank/Client relationship.
6.Prepare analysis and loan packages for loans requiring submission to the U.S. Small Business Administration.
7.Prepare monthly / quarterly reports for presentation to senior management and the Board of Directors. Including but not limited to small business loan exceptions and portfolio data.
8.Help monitor all technical exceptions associated with the small business loan portfolio and provide monthly exception reports to loan officers, small business manager and director, and senior management.
9.Be willing to attend seminars, classes, or other educational opportunities to keep abreast of changes, product offerings, and best practices pertaining to small business and SBA lending.
Job Specifications/Skill Requirements:
1.Bachelor degree or associates degree in accounting or finance a plus but not mandatory or equivalent experience in accounting/finance or credit analysis knowledge with another financial institution.

4.Good understanding of accounting and credit analyst procedures.
5.Strong working knowledge of personal computer and software programs (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, CSI, and Loan Scoring Systems (i.e. Credit Quest, etc.).
6.Some travel required.
